Colour Management Services

Getting good colour first time results in cost savings through less remakes and less retouching time. The enhanced image quality helps you to attract new customers while satisfying your existing accounts.

Colour Management through the careful implementation of ICC Profiles can bring many benefits. It is not easy to implement yourself however!  Which is why we are here to help you.  Professional help and training is advisable during the initial phase of colour management projects.
Our expertise in Colour Management is geared to helping the the Prepress, Printing, Photographic, Design, Advertising and related industries. Our Colour Management Consultancy services will help you by creating custom ICC Profiles for your equipment and workflows to suit your requirements.

Colour Management Audits
These can take various forms depending on your requirements and the size of the company. Typically we will evaluate your present Colour Management and workflow procedures and equipment. This includes Photoshop and existing ICC Profiles and the quality achieved. We discuss your present procedures and problems, and future requirements with you. We can help you with the implementation of ISO  standards for printing. We often suggest a progressively staged implementation of Colour Management.

ICC Profiling
ICC Profiles are created using our facilities (profiling software and hardware). ICC Profiles for printing conforming to ISO 12647 standard can be produced, incorporating either your or your printing provider's requirements for GCR, Black Ink and Total Area Coverage, etc.

Our clients have sometimes purchased colour profiling software and hardware, but lack experience in it's use. In which case we will create ICC Profiles using their facilities, while training their staff.

Digital Printer & Proofer Profiling
Digital printers (often used as proofers) are normally controlled by a RIP. They have to be carefully calibrated (linearized) for specific paper types before profiling can commence. This is always better than using the supplied "canned" profiles.

Press Profiling
ICC Profiles for a press may be required as part of a proofing operation, or to produce accurately separated CMYK images to your printing specification. After profiling, training will be given in the use of the new Colour Management workflow and procedures.

Colour Monitor Profiling
Monitor calibration is normally performed as a part of the profiling procedure.  Standards for your company will need to be established as part of the procedure.  Your staff will need to know how to re-calibrate and profile at regular intervals.

PhotoShop Colour Settings
It is pointless creating new ICC Profiles if they are not used because the software isn't setup!  At present many people in the prepress and related industries are unaware of these vital settings, which are often set to completely irrelevant conditions, with resultant loss of quality. The ISO printing standards have been further updated. This mean that the supplied "ISO standard"and "SWOP" profiles are obsolete. These settings will be configured to make use of the newly created ICC Profiles, and your staff will be familiarised with them.

Crosfield & Fuji Scanner Colour Optimisation
We have unrivalled expertise in helping users get the very best colour using these superb drum and flatbed scanners.  We offer this service either in conjunction with ICC Profiling, or for those clients who prefer to use the traditional CMYK Scanning.
