Fujifilm ColourKit Colour Management Software
Fujifilm ColourKit, was a modular range of ICC Colour Management software applications with many uses, which was supplied in several different packages. The different packages have a similar look and feel resulting from the use of standard software components. The latest versions were available for both Mac OS X and Windows. Packages were available for: ICC Profiling; Image Conversion and Processing; and to drive the Fuji Lanovia and FineScan flatbed scanners.
Phil Cruse's involvement with ColourKit went back to 1999, before it's public launch. He provided Colour Management Consultancy and Training in the U.K. for these products. As the products are no longer being updated by their manufacturer we no longer sell them.
ColourKit was developed by FFEI Ltd. (formerly Fujifilm Electronic Imaging) in the U.K. This is the company which manufactured the Fuji Lanovia and FineScan flatbed scanners and the famous Celsis drum scanner.
ColourKit
Profiler Suite (CPS):
A range of ICC-Profiling applications with individual packages as
follows:
Scanner Profiler; CMYK Output Profiler; RGB Output Profiler; Digital
Camera Profiler; Profile Editor. The profiles
created are to the very highest standard. The Profile Editor
software is
one of the very few available which actually works and is also user
friendly.
This
software was standard with the
Lanovia Quattro and FineScan. It was also available (from Fuji) to
drive
the later Lanovia
C550 scanners (which must have the Sprint upgrade). There are
two modules:
ColourKit Editor and Manager. The Manager module drives the
scanner and processes images, while the Editor module can be used to
view and edit images before processing. Editing and sharpening
functionality is similar to (and in some cases superior to) the older
Celsis and C-Scan software and to the former Image Editor software. In
many respects the software is superior to Photoshop, but only works
with the limited range of very high-end Fuji flatbed scanners. OS X
versions were available but development ceased some time ago. While it
appears to work with "Leopard" on Intel Macs, you would probably be
safer with "Tiger" and a G4/5. You probably are wondering about
"Snow Leopard"? Phil has not been brave enough to try this combo
on his Mac! The general rule with older
software/hardware is to use a computer/operating system combination
from the same age or a slightly later era. Please note that while
Windows
versions of the software were available, the vast majority of
users have the Mac versions, and this is where our expertise lies.Availability: For current availability and upgrade support, please contact your local Fujifilm office or retailer.
